Position Summary: 

 

  1. Accountable for overseeing the company’s product quality programs and chemical / physical product safety programs, which encompass: 
  • Global quality performance strategy and conformance. 
  • Customer and consumer, internal and external, quality champion. 
  • Regulatory and safety administration. 
  1. Establish control-related standards and procedures for materials, components and finished shoes; ensure adherence and relevance. Enable brand product safety standards and testing protocol, ensure compliance to various regional regulations. 
  2. In collaboration with Asia quality and US teams, manage quality audit process and communication. Provide proactive continuity in application of product quality standards and procedures throughout the organization. In liaison with Asia Quality, ensure compliance of company’s quality standards within agent factories and material suppliers to effectively deliver the highest product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for company’s product quality processes, reporting and ensuring continuous improvement. 
  • Ensure all Quality Standards are accurate, complete and up to date. Create new standards as required to manage the business.
  • Partner with Asia Quality team in vendor qualification process. Ensure that the process is representative of the company’s Quality and Product Safety requirements. 
  • Partner with Asia Quality team in the Manufactured Product Conformance Process. Identify problem vendors and ensure that Quality performance and Product Safety corrective actions are established. 
  • Establish and direct all aspects of the company’s Product Field Conformance process including quality alerts, returns disposition and processing, and recalls. Ensure that the company is capturing all field-based product quality indicators and systematically using them to evaluate and design future products. 
  • In conjunction with Product Development, establish the company’s new style design conformance process. Ensure that new styles conform to the company’s quality requirements. Drive root cause and corrective action for non-conforming styles. Identify changes to standards and processes that result in a stronger process. 
  • Lead and manage incoming product quality audit process at US based distribution center. Point person to manage claims and returns related to substandard footwear quality. Assess root cause of these claims, partner with cross-functional stakeholders and with agent partners to resolve claims. Assess learnings from these claims and incorporate quality / process improvement changes internally and / or within agent factories.
  • Responsible for reporting and managing company’s Quality and Product Safety metrics. Develop new metrics as needed to manage the business. 
  • Develop strategies to manage all critical gaps in the company’s Quality and Product Safety architecture. 
  • Oversee and ensure execution of company’s product safety policies, update and amend as needed. 
  • Develop strategies to ensure compliance with new regulations and requirements in order to mitigate product risk. 

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years progressive experience in a medium size company, including 5 years in management of soft goods and hard goods industry (preferably branded footwear).
  • BA or BS degree in Business Administration, or Engineering, or Manufacturing. 
  • Prior experience in development of quality procedures, implementing processes and timely execution is required. 
  • PC skills, including MS Office tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • International travel to Asia is required.
